In particular, the Almost Heaven home saunas have caught my attention. Are there any other reputable companies or locations I should check out? Regarding the steam output, for those who own Almost Heaven saunas, I prefer a humid sauna experience over dry heat. How hot do the exterior surfaces get, too, do these units provide adequate insulation, or should I worry about heat affecting adjacent walls?

Last but not least, I want to know if outdoor barrel saunas up north have issues maintaining or heating up during cold weather. Additionally, is it safe to place it beneath a cedar deck, or could doing so result in heat damage?

You can upgrade the heater or add more stones for better steam retention and for a cold climate, the barrel design actually performs surprisingly well, curved shape sheds snow and heats efficiently, though expect longer heat up times in deep winter

you know, The Sauna Guys in Michigan's Upper Peninsula or others in the Great Lakes region, could be a huge help to the original poster, as these companies are used to building saunas for cold climates
